"ASAP"
🔥 It's time to change it.
Hey there, friend,
I think it’s about time neurotypical people take a page (or two) from an autistic’s book.
Specifically, let’s take “ASAP” as literally as possible.
Think about it:
Right now, “ASAP” does not mean “as soon as possible,” it means “DO IT RIGHT NOW.”
Is that as soon as possible?
Or is that… something different?
Answer: it’s something different. And I’m sick of us not speculating the urgency neurotypical people put upon us.
In fact, I reject the urgency neurotypical people put upon us.
What if we imagined a different variation of ASAP?
What if we encouraged a new look at the old?
What if we changed the meaning of ASAP?
Something like this:
[Photo Alt: A handwritten note that reads, “ASAP: 1) As slow as possible, 2) As soft as possible, 3) As soulful as possible, 4) As sustainable as possible, 5) As sincere as possible, 6) As steady as possible, 7) Allow space and pause.”]
What’s your favorite variation?
I think mine is “As sustainable as possible.” :)
x, Atlas
