Hey there, friend,
Right now is not the time you need to look at that DM, email, phone call, emotion, or thought.
That statement above is pretty true almost all of the time—like 97% accuracy.
This is a lesson I taught myself (somehow, don’t ask) and it’s saved me so many headaches, heartache, and hotheadedness.
By the time I was 14, I had already turned all of my notifications off on my phone except texts & calls.
No Instagram, no Snapchat, no location trackers—nothing.
And this way of thinking, this mental cleanliness, has reverberated throughout my life in many, many ways.
For example:
I write daily to clear my thoughts
I slot time to use social media daily
I engage in my special interests every day
I hold onto emotions until I’m ready to feel them
I have an auto responder on my email saying I’ll take longer than 24 hours to get back
You don’t have to be immediately available to anyone.
Anybody that makes you feel like you do—including your boss, clients, family, or partner—does not respect you.
And you deserve respect.
Period.
