No Reason To Rest
đ„ Psstâyou donât *need* a reason to.
Hey there, friend,
Sometimes I get caught up thinking that I need a reason to rest.
Like, that I need to âearn itâ or âdeserve itâ in order to do it.
Do you feel that way sometimes, too?
If you do, or if youâre like me, then let me affirm you now:
You do not need a âreasonâ to rest.
Youâre allowed to rest just because you feel like it.
Youâre allowed to rest because youâre overwhelmed.
Youâre allowed to rest even if your body isnât tired.
Youâre allowed to rest even if yesterday, you wouldnât have rested after this long.
Youâre allowed to rest whenever you want, wherever you want, even if it means sitting on the floor to regroup.
I love watching service dog videos because of this reason.
Many people I watch have POTSâa common comorbid condition alongside autismâand if their heart rate spikes, then they need to sit down.
But guess what?
Sometimes they sit down with their dog just because the dog tells them to.
Not because they feel dizzy. Not because they feel tired.
Just because their dog says, hey, letâs take a break.
So thatâs what Iâm doing for you right now; letting you know, hey, letâs take a break.
How will you be taking your break today?
x, Atlas
