Small Accommodation Big Difference
š„ A small story on makeup.
Hey there, friend,
For as long as Iāve been living in this space (6ish months), Iāve always done my makeup standing up.
In my daily life, Iām not a huge makeup wearer.
I have always used makeup as a āshieldā against the outside world; you might call it a āmaskā ;)
Now that I have a full-time job, I wear lashes, mascara, and the white on my inner eyes every day I work.
Itās just business.
That being said, there are rare days off that I feel like wearing makeup, and thatās usually when I lean towards expressionismānot simple business.
Today was one of those rare days.
I wanted to do my makeup because Iām driving to the city over to get a haircut, see a friend, and do some shopping.
It should be a productive, fun day!
But I wasnāt feeling standing.
Iāve been extra tired lately, and that bleeds into my sleep/physical exhaustion quickly.
So I did something Iāve never thought to do before, and grabbed my old desk mirror (with built-in lights, of course) and got to work.
What a small accommodationāthat I had all the tools forāsitting and ready for me to use!
I would feel dumb if I didnāt feel so accomplished.
I mean, look at how the look turned out:
[Photo Alt: Atlas (they/them), a blonde, blue-eyed white person stares at the camera. In this close-up of their eyes, you can see their eyeliner intricately drawn in a wing with three under-eye spikes.]
Standing me could neveeerrrr draw such thin lines!
Iām gagged. (Thatās a good thing, if you donāt know.)
Let this all be a reminder that you are allowed to take accommodations in any form, whether that be makeup, sitting in the shower, or only eating foods you can microwave.
You are valid no matter the spoons you have today.
x, Atlas
